Polycythemia Vera In A Dog
by todd - April 26, 2017    View Case Report
Hi Steve,
This dog with Polycythemia ( also seizured), shows some Dampness (Tongue lavender with slight coating, Reverse Sneezing, Chews feet, history of Flatulence now resolved); Heat ( forehead area feels hot to me),
Pulse us normal on medication-Hydroxyurea.
I have reviewed the other cases here with Polycythemia, and am requesting some assistance on this. Do you read the elevated PCV as Heat ? That makes sense to me..... is that your meaning ? It seems like , paradoxically, it could be seen like treating IMHA ????

So this dog....how to treat Damp, Heat , and Stagnation ?SMS? QYT plus SMS ?

Hope all is well !!!
Gratefully, Todd

Hi Todd,

I do wonder if the increased PCV represents a Heat pathogen, causing desiccation of the Blood. So Qing Ying Tang would be my first thought.

Si Miao San makes sense from the hot-excess-stasis perspective, but is drying, so I'd have it as my runner up. You could also use the two together, but I think it's more instructive if we try one at a time.

Hope that helps,

Steve
