E. Cuniculi Induced Ataxia In A Rabbit
by bunnydoc - May 1, 2017
Hi!

Are there any recommendations for rabbits that have ataxia of the hind limbs due to E. cumiculi? This rabbit is confirmed positive on testing and is not responding well to fenbendazole. I suspect an inflammatory response in the central nervous system is contributing to the signs.

Thanks!

Hi Leticia,

I would start with Minor Bupleurum (Xiao Chai Hu Tang). It's our first thought for immune-modulation, whether to boost humoral immunity or temper 'wheel spinning' cell-mediated responses. It's also an excellent neural anti-inflammatory, and generally safe, making it our first choice for vestibular disease, degenerative myelopathy, etc.

Hope that helps you out!

Steve
