Question Details
Bladder UMN In A Dog With FCE
by
I am seeing a 5 yr GWP with 13 week out FCE. Still has HQ paresis, and is unalbe to urinate voluntarily, has to be cateterized. No longer has cold below the lesion after 3 weeks of EAP. Tongue is purple, fairly dry, small phlegm lines. Owner is reluctant to start herbs to unblock local Qi-BlX and dispel Phlegm, but is interested in ideas to restore normal bladder function. Will Saw Palmetto work for this?

Hi Jodi,

Saw Palmetto would be a good thing to try. I also find San Ren Tang great for both hind end paresis and associated micturition impairments. Coix, one of it's main ingredients, is commonly used in Japan for resolving nerve inflammation. So I'd try both if you like. San Ren Tang fits the purplish tongue with evidence of Phlegm.

Good luck!
