Question Details
Oral Plasmacytoma
by sherebrin - May 11, 2009
I have a Yorkie patient I have treated successfully for neck pain from IVDD, who has had 2 gingival plasma cell tumours excised, and now has a new one. He is not currently showing any significant heat signs, so I don't think Hoxsey would be best. The (modified)Xue Fu Xue Yu would be my choice, but it doesn't have any herbs that lead to the mouth. What would be best to modify it with?

Hi there,

We've used Xue Fu Zhu Yu Tang for oral tumors as well, which counts as the upper burner. I just prescribed it myself a few minutes ago for a squamous cell carcinoma in a cat. So I'd go ahead and try it and see what happens. The only risk with the formula (aside from it not working) is in creating loose stools if the dog has a tendency to Spleen deficiency and Damp accumulation. If that isn't part of the history, I'd give it a try, pending more data on pulses, tongue, and active points.

Good luck and all the best!

Steve
